Delta Airlines enters the final phase of the hub of La Guardia in which it invests $ 160 million

Gail Grimmett, SVP Delta Air Lines in New York, said «Now that we have completed the final phase of our expansion, Delta offers service to over 60 cities, more than any other airline. After several years of hard work, the Delta hub at La Guardia is up and running. »

Delta’s new services are to Cleveland, Charlotte, NC, Charlottesville, Va., Denver, Halifax, Houston, Ottawa, Montreal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Roanoke, Va.. Last month, Delta launched a new service from LaGuardia to Milwaukee, Wilmington, NC, and Myrtle Beach.

These destinations are added to 60 destinations with more than 260 daily flights it operates at present, significantly more than any other airline.

Grimmett noted that «An important part of our strategy to become the airline of choice for New York is connecting key business markets from La Guardia, the airport of choice for business travelers.»

The new flights are part of Delta’s continued expansion in New York, one of the largest markets and competitive in the world of aviation. The airline has increased its service at LaGuardia by 60 percent, with 100 new flights to 26 new destinations.

Delta is investing $ 160 million to modernize and connect two terminals at La Guardia, work is expected to be completed by the end of 2012. Improvements and renovations in the Delta terminal at La Guardia are an important component of the airline’s commitment to the city of New York, which includes new routes, more frequencies and better facilities.

A part of the journey in some itineraries may be through the Delta Connection carriers: Chautauqua Airlines, Comair, Compass Airlines, ExpressJet, Go Jet, Mesaba Airlines, Pinnacle Airlines, Shuttle America and SkyWest.

Delta carried 20.8 million passengers from the three airports in the metropolitan New York in 2011 and expects that number to grow to 24.6 million in 2012. Delta has 7,000 employees based in New York.
