Fire on Royal Caribbean cruise towards the Bahamas

The Royal Caribbean International informed through their account on the social network Twitter, that there was a fire on the cruise Grandeur of the Seas, on his way to a port in the Bahamas on Monday morning.

The incident began about 2:50 am and was extinguished before 5 am and not reported aboard affected.

The ship with some 2,224 passengers and about 796 crew originally sailed to Coco Cay, Bahamas, but now will head to Freeport to be examined, as Royal Caribbean.

This cruise of 279 meters long and 74 tons, was located about 38 nautical miles from Freeport, in the northwest of the archipelago, reports CNN in Spanish.

«As a precaution, the captain found it necessary to gather all the passengers at the point of meeting,» said the company. «Are all passengers and crew and no injuries have been reported,» he added.

According to information from the web site of Royal Caribbean, the journey of Grandeur of the Seas to the Bahamas includes seven nights after leaving the port of Baltimore in Maryland, with stops in Port Canaveral, Florida, Nassau, Bahamas and Coco Cay «, considered the «private island» of Royal Caribbean in the Bahamas.

Last February cruise another line, the Carnival Cruise Lines, broke down in the engine room while traveling from Cancun to Texas, forcing the ship to divert to Alabama.
